A small group of former classmates organize an elaborate, annual game of tag that requires some to travel all over the country.
TAG - Official Trailer
Tag is not great as a movie, but perhaps great as a showcase for Hannibal Burress.
"weak characterization and a not-so-good script."
It’s a decent option if you want a mildly entertaining movie to numb your mind for a while but you don’t want to settle for complete garbage. Some of the dialogue/character decisions were so bad that I actually cringed out of second hand embarrassment.
However, the fun concept and the fact that it's based on a true story might make it appealing to some people (it definitely made me want to see it).
"I genuinely hated 4 out of the 5 main characters"
Of all the jokes sprinkled throughout the 100 minute run time only a cameo from the great Thomas Middleditch and a Hannibal one liner made me chuckle. By the time this movie made a complete 180 turn and tried to get me to feel emotionally invested in these characters, I was ready to head for the parking lot.
“Go outside and play Tag instead”
Studios have gotten really lazy in naming their movies. Skyscraper because it takes place in a skyscraper. Truth or Dare because they play truth or dare. And now Tag because, you guessed it, they play tag.
"Okay, this was really cute."
I love this year’s film trend of adults playing child games. Only, this happened to be based off a true story. Had a lot of low points comedic-wise, accompanied by a few dry moments. However, Hannibal & Hoagie’s wife gave me the biggest laughs. Can attest the low predictability to the fact that this movie’s literally about the game of tag. 6/10
