Incredibles 2 Official Trailer
Incredibles 2 doesn't quite live up to the original, but it still offers some genuine laughs and fun action sequences
"The animation! THE ANIMATION!!!"
Having rewatched the first Incredibles movie the night before watching the sequel, I can safely say that this movie was definitely worth waiting for.
"Not bad, Pixar...not bad at all.
Brings all the charm of the original, and clearly prioritizes audience members our age, at least enough so to make the few plot holes easily forgotten in the midst of our enjoyment. I also promised my mother I would let her get this off her chest--"I liked the villain. She was very compelling. I mean, it was like an indictment on society. We don't play games, we watch game shows!" And she's not wrong--a villain whose cause we can almost sympathize with? Not bad, Pixar...not bad at all.
"Like many other Pixar sequels, it leaves something to be desired"
Though predictable, it was still enjoyable. Definitely see it once, but maybe watch the first one again instead of putting yourself through this one a second time.
"Without a doubt, the wait was beyond worth it!"
We love an Elastigirl solo film! Before I get into that review, I want to address Bao! As expected it was very sweet and warm. Domee Shi did that for sure, the story was close to home for her, and it showed. If you don't understand it's metaphor, please think a little deeper before bashing. Let's not stop at the first woman EVER to direct a Pixar short. We need more!
"Probably the best action I’ve seen in an animated movie."
A-. A lot of fun, good humor, and Jack Jack and Edna are also used in just the right amount. The villain leaves something to be desired though (surprised?), and there’s nothing here that will make you think.
"It's worth a rental AT THE LEAST"
It's not as fabled as the first, but Incredibles 2 brings the laughs and entertainment and I do feel it is a worthy sequel. Its villain fails to impress but the film is clearly focused more on the characters and setting. Action scenes are creative and look very impressive, showing more evidence that Brad Bird is a fantastic director when it comes to action sequences and chase scenes. However, the story is not as stellar to me as Brad Bird's other films like Iron Giant or even Ratatouille, mainly to due lack of heartfelt elements and a weak villain. I mean, there are heartfelt moments, but they don't feel as significant or as important to the story. Overall, I'd say go see it if you're looking for a good time with the folks, or just wait till the home release.
"I was hoping for a bit more"
I was 7 years old when the first movie came out. I remember really enjoying it a lot & as I got older, I appreciated it so much more for its thematic elements and unique take on the “family becomes superheroes” dynamic.
"Definitely worth seeing, one way or another."
Not quite as good as the first, but pretty damn close. Although some story elements may be a bit predictable, the script is smart and hilarious, the voice acting is perfect, and the animation is fantastic. Making a sequel that will hold up to a film like The Incredibles is an extremely difficult task, but I think Brad Bird and co. nailed it with this movie.
"This has been a long time coming"
This movie is fun, and you should leave with a smile. The action scenes are very exciting, my favorite being the opener of the film against a certain mole-like villain. Humor is big (shocker) in the film as well. They used just the right amount of Edna and Jack-Jack which had me grinning from ear to ear.
"No matter how fun this movie is, it is ultimately bogged down by the perfection of the original."
Fourteen years has been a long time in the movie landscape. Disney bought Pixar. The Cars franchise started… and crashed horribly three movies in. Brad Bird directed another animated classic, a great action film, and Tomorrowland. Yet perhaps Pixar’s best movie remained sequelless, until now.
"Safe isn't always a bad thing"
If you've watched Finding Dory and are familiar with Pixar's last 5-8 films and were forced to make a prediction of what Incredibles 2 (another sequel) was going to be like, you would probably be pretty accurate. You have a lot of fun action sequences and fun family-dialogue (super funny) that keeps you engaged the whole time.
